# Statistics page

Reviewed on 2026-10-07.

## What it means

A statistics page is a page dedicated to bringing together and explaining quantitative data on a topic. Its organization makes it possible to find numbers, consult sources, and understand which population, period, and unit each measure refers to. It may include [original research](/en/resources/glossary/original-research) or data published by third parties, provided it preserves their provenance and conditions for interpretation.

## Why it matters for marketing

For marketing, this format provides a reference base for content, presentations, and market analyses. Its usefulness depends on how relevant the indicators are to the question, not on how many numbers are included. A page with clearly defined scopes reduces the risk of applying a statistic from one population to another or presenting old data as a description of the current market.

## Example in practice

Imagine an agency putting together a page about online shopping in Brazil. One survey covers shoppers among internet users; another describes households with an internet connection. By reviewing the bases, the team would notice that the percentages do not measure the same phenomenon. It could group the indicators by question and show the base alongside each value, without combining them into a single rate.

## How to apply or verify

For each indicator, check the original publication, definition, unit, population observed, and the dates of data collection and publication. Select data that address the page’s topic and explain methodology changes before comparing periods. In the example, keep shoppers and households in separate groups. An analyst should review calculations, rounding, and limitations, as well as check for new releases from the sources and keep the data up to date.

## Important distinctions

A statistics page is more than inserting numbers into any text. The [GEO](/en/resources/glossary/geo) study tested adding statistics to sources, using responses generated by GPT-3.5 and its own visibility metrics. This scope does not show that every collection of statistics will be cited. Having a source also does not fix an irrelevant number, an incompatible base, or an incorrect interpretation.
