# Sentiment prompt

Reviewed on 2026-10-06.

## What it means

A sentiment [prompt](/en/resources/glossary/prompt) is a request for AI to evaluate a brand or product by describing favorable and unfavorable aspects, along with caveats. In the terminology of Sentiment prompt, Profound proposes examining this evaluation by attribute. The material analyzed is the characterization produced in the response, within the context provided; it does not reveal the model’s own feelings or survey consumer opinion.

## Why it matters for marketing

Marketing can use the prompt to identify recurring arguments about an aspect of an offering, such as support or ease of implementation. Separating attributes prevents praise for pricing from obscuring a caveat about use. The result can guide an investigation of sources and public messaging, while conclusions about customers depend on research with people or actual customer service records.

## Example in practice

Suppose a language school requests a hypothetical evaluation of its courses for adults with variable schedules. The response praises recorded lessons and points out difficulty rescheduling live sessions. The team isolates the comment about rescheduling, checks the published policy, and decides to explain its conditions on the page, without presenting the text as a student complaint.

## How to apply or verify

Choose the brand, audience, and attribute to evaluate. Ask for reasons and caveats, keeping the full response and cited sources. Mark relevant passages by attribute and describe the classification criteria used. When automated judgment is involved, review ambiguous examples with a person and keep verifiable facts separate from evaluative expressions in the report.

## Important distinctions

A sentiment prompt can also compare competitors or ask for confirmation of capabilities; types overlap depending on the request. A favorable tone does not prove that information is correct, and criticism without a source does not represent a real occurrence. The result differs from analysis of customer comments: the text’s origin and the unit being evaluated must be explicit.
