# On-page SEO

Reviewed on 2026-10-06.

## What it means

On-page [SEO](/en/resources/glossary/seo) is the optimization of a website’s own page content and elements to help people and search engines understand it. It includes the title, offer description, text structure, images, and relevant links. On-site SEO often broadens this scope to the entire website, although the two terms are frequently used together in project proposals.

## Why it matters for marketing

For a marketing team, the concept helps turn a vague optimization request into verifiable changes. Content should address the need that brought the visitor to the page, explain the terms, and help them continue their journey. Changing a title without clarifying a confusing offer may improve how the result is presented while leaving the main question unanswered.

## Example in practice

An equipment rental company has a page called “Complete Solutions” but receives questions about renting projectors for events in Curitiba. In this hypothetical situation, the on-page review specifies the equipment, capacity, service area, and delivery terms, uses a descriptive title, and links the page to installation guidance. This decision addresses a concrete gap in the published offer.

## How to apply or check

Review the visible page, its title, description, images, and link destinations. Compare the content with customer service questions and relevant queries, using [Search Console](/en/resources/glossary/google-search-console) when available. Record the previous version and the change made. To evaluate results, use comparable periods and monitor user behavior and incoming inquiries; a single edit does not demonstrate causality for conversions.

## Important distinctions

On-page SEO differs from [off-page SEO](/en/resources/glossary/off-page-seo), which deals with external presence and references. It overlaps with technical SEO, especially when content depends on rendering or access. The scope of the work should specify how these areas are divided. Repeating keywords does not prove relevance, and following best practices does not guarantee rankings or citations in Google’s AI experiences.
