# llms-full.txt

Reviewed on 2026-10-06.

## What it means

The llms-full.txt file is a supplementary file convention that brings together expanded documentation content for consumption by AI tools. While [llms.txt](/en/resources/glossary/llms-txt) provides an overview with links, the full version can include the page text. In Mintlify’s implementation, it includes the title, source URL, description, and Markdown content of each eligible page, subject to the platform’s rules.

## Why it matters for marketing

For teams that maintain commercial or technical documentation, the file makes a consolidated text version available for reference. Editorial decisions include which pages to include, how to track updates, and whether the volume fits within the [context window](/en/resources/glossary/context-window) of the tool being used. Having this file accessible does not show that assistants have consulted it or started citing or recommending the company.

## Example in practice

Imagine a software company that maintains a public integration guide and an earlier version of llms-full.txt. In this hypothetical comparison, the file’s authentication section still describes a deactivated key, while the guide uses OAuth. The team decides to update the export from the same guide and compare this section before making it available as context for an assistant.

## How to apply or verify

For this guide, the documentation and development teams should check the expanded file’s content, source URLs, version, and access scope. In Mintlify, a custom file replaces the automatically generated one. The person responsible could compare the authentication section with the current page and propose a controlled query to the assistant, recording the file provided and the response without assuming it is read automatically.

## Important distinctions

Llms.txt is a proposal for organizing references; llms-full.txt is a supplementary convention for bringing documents together. Publishing the expanded file is optional for a website; generation and authentication rules vary by implementation. The file does not replace [robots.txt](/en/resources/glossary/robots-txt), define training permissions, and may exceed a tool’s context window. Availability does not guarantee use or ranking.
