# Gemini

Reviewed on 2026-10-06.

## What it means

Gemini is the name Google uses for its family of models and for assistant experiences based on those models. Here, the focus is on Gemini Apps, accessed via the web or mobile apps to chat, summarize materials, and draft text. The model made available through the API is separate from the app experience.

## Why it matters for marketing

This distinction helps compare responses without attributing an observation from a single screen to the entire ecosystem. An in-app evaluation may involve uploaded files, conversation context, and account features. The same question in an API integration will have a different configuration. Recording the source makes it possible to investigate differences in content without immediately treating them as a change in brand perception.

## Example in practice

Imagine a team using Gemini Apps to summarize a promotion policy uploaded as a file. The summary adds a condition that does not appear in the document. The person responsible compares the passage with the policy, corrects the material, and records that the test used an attachment. They do not classify the incident as publicly discovered information about the promotion.

## How to apply or verify

Record the date, surface, personal or work account, model when stated, and materials provided. Open the cited sources and check claims against the original documents. For work accounts, check the license and administrator settings. Documentation reviewed in October 2026 distinguishes these types of access; having a Google Account does not ensure that every feature is available on every device.

## Important distinctions

Gemini Apps is not synonymous with all Gemini models or with features integrated into Workspace apps. The API documentation distinguishes stable, preview, and experimental versions, each with its own conditions. Features and data handling depend on the type of access used. A plausible response can contain errors; using a Google product does not guarantee accuracy, brand citations, or automatic access to private files.
