# AI search

Reviewed on 2026-10-06.

## What it means

AI search is a search experience in which a system uses [artificial intelligence](/en/resources/glossary/artificial-intelligence) to interpret a question and present an answer, often consulting external sources. The interface may offer summaries, comparisons, and continued conversation. Not every assistant response involves web search; it is important to check which tools and sources were used.

## Why it matters for marketing

A buyer can describe a complete need, including budget, location, and constraints, instead of typing a short term. For marketing, this broadens the comparison criteria. Information about service in Brazil, suitability for a segment, and real limitations can matter as much as the general category description a company uses on its website.

## Practical example

For the question “which management system works for a small agency that charges in Brazilian reais?”, the system may search for alternatives, prices, and features, then combine the information. The brand may appear in the text while another page provides the evidence. It may also be excluded because of incorrect information about availability or a lack of data about the requested scenario.

## How to apply or verify

Review the entire answer and open the sources. Record the product or search mode, the question text, date, language, and collection context. Avoid extrapolating from a personal conversation to the entire audience. To track changes, maintain a stable sample of questions and separate results by platform and intent.

## Important distinctions

AI search is not synonymous with a single language model. The product may combine a model, index, external search, and its own policies. Nor is there a universal [brand position](/en/resources/glossary/brand-position-in-the-answer) across all AI systems. The answer results from a specific situation, and analysis must preserve that context to guide useful work.
